Our origin

The quiet corner

London runs at a sprint from seven in the morning. Sunday Corner exists to give local neighbours an unhurried place to pause, read, and sip hot tea without watching the clock.

Slow beginnings

Built from salvage

Before pouring our first kettle, we spent seven months collecting floorboards, sturdy Victorian pine tables, and mismatched armchairs from estate clear-outs across East London.

Every chair has settled joints and every table bears the marks of decades of use. We wanted a room that feels lived in from day one, like a friend’s kitchen where you never have to ask permission to put your feet up.

Living room values

Public solitude matters

Most city cafes treat seats like metered parking bays, pushing customers out the door the minute their foam settles. We believe sitting alone with a book, watching rain bead against glass, is a genuine necessity for sanity.

That is why our cups are thick stoneware that holds heat for forty minutes, our shelves are stocked with dog-eared paperbacks, and our staff will never hover by your elbow with a card machine.

Our door is unlocked

Fresh pots steeped all morning, warm buttered bakes on the counter, and open tables waiting by the window.
